Winning

© Eric Perlin

I expect that at some point the Republicans will launch a disinformation campaign to convince everyone that Obama is going to easily win reelection. That will both keep potential Obama voters away from the polls, and will energize their base.

Count on it.

By the way, the above comic was created using the awesome Funny Times Cartoon Playground, where anyone with a funny idea can create a cartoon, even if you have no artistic talent. If you create a good ironic one, send it to me and I might just post it.

I know that there’s a common belief that projecting a Big Win would keep potential Obama voters away. I don’t believe it for a second. I think it’s much more likely that a predicted landslide for Obama would keep Whatever-Loser-the-Repubs-nominate supporters away. If your cause is lost, why bother?

If your candidate is winning, pile on. Rub their noses in it.

I may not be right but it’s just as reasonable a reaction.

  2. IK: Glad to see I’m not the only one finding time to take breaks from the weekend’s craziness.

Hope everyone’s having a good time!

At some point? I’m pretty sure it’s already happening. I received an email months ago from one of my cousins (who always sends me conservative chain emails) with 8 reasons that Obama would win easily no matter who runs against him. I don’t remember all of the reasons, but it went something like:
    1) liberals will vote for him no matter what he does because he’s their savior
    2) blacks will vote for him no matter what he does because he’s black
    3) poor people will vote for him because he gives them hand outs

.. and so on along that vein. This was a while ago, before the Republican candidates started making obvious fools of themselves to anyone who doesn’t follow politics too closely, so it seemed to me more like an attempt to deflect blame from the Republican party’s terrible field.
