Humor to the Rescue!

This week, Doonesbury is featuring a series of strips dealing with the controversial laws that require women to go though a gauntlet of unnecessary requirements before receiving an abortion. Many newspapers have declined to run these strips, while some have moved them from the comics page to the editorial page.

If your local paper isn’t carrying them, and you are curious, Doonesbury has them online. (Or if that link stops working, I’ve saved a copy here.)

They are actually pretty good. Here’s the first one of the series:

UPDATE: What if other comic strips dealt with the same issue?

They’re excellent. It’s nice to find some humor in a truly demoralizing turn in American politics. Any women in this country that continues to vote for Republicans/Tea Baggers will be the poster people for voting against one’s own interests. Sad thing is, many will vote that way. Ouch.

If you can’t find one, there are plenty of companies that will let you create one (for relatively cheap). I know Zazzle and Cafepress will do that, but I’m sure there are others.

Great humor. It’s a shame, an absolute shame of what the GOP is doing to politicize anything in order to gain any semblance of power in the 2012 election. Sad, sad sad. And I agree, and woman who supports Tea Party candidates, is the epitome of voting against their self-interest.
