Besides Russia, is there any country that Donald Trump has not managed to piss off?
Let’s start with Russia. The only active war in Europe today just erupted again, with Russian fingerprints all over it:
After two years of cease-fire that was observed on a fairly consistent basis by both sides, fighting between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian separatists has recommenced, with more than a dozen people dead. It’s too early to say with certainty what it all means, but observers note that the separatists appear to have had logistical support from Moscow, and that this could very well be a test to see how the Trump administration responds.
So Donald Trump emboldens Russia, and they start causing trouble. This is a very bad sign.
And Russia isn’t the only country that is testing Trump. Iran just conducted a missile test, and Iranian-backed rebels conducted an attack on a Saudi naval vessel in the Red Sea. On Wednesday, the Trump administration announced “As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice.” Just what does that mean? Then of course, they blamed everything on the Obama administration.
And in two personal phone calls in one day, Trump managed to antagonize both the prime minister of Australia and the president of Mexico.
What makes this scary is that Australia is a critical ally of the US as China tries to annex islands in the South China Sea. Indeed, Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon has said that “There’s no doubt” that the US will go to war with China in five to ten years.
So what was important enough to cause Trump to threaten our relationship with Australia? An agreement between the US and Australia where Australia would accept refugees from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. In return, the US would resettle 1,250 refugees from Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, but as even Trump’s press secretary points out, only after “extreme vetting” is applied to each one. But in yet another tweet, Trump called it a “dumb deal”.
Meanwhile, on another phone call, German Chancellor Angela Merkel had to explain to Trump the Geneva Convention, which requires the US to accept refugees from war-torn nations. Trump is violating the convention by ordering a halt of refugees entering the US. French President Francois Hollande and British Prime Minister Theresa May also chastised Trump for the Muslim refugee ban.
Things have gotten so bad that the president of the European Union declared the Trump administration a “threat”, alongside China, Russia, terrorism, and radical Islam.
Trump’s bullying is not going over well with the rest of the world. What will Trump do in response? Threaten to bomb our allies?

As of yesterday, 40% of us want him impeached (or president Bannon impeached) Pence has strange ideas, but he isn’t going to go it alone like narcissist is doing.
“5 to 10 years” should be read as “shortly before the 2020 election”.

I just switched my party affiliation yesterday from democrat to independent, because the hate, hypocrisy and irony coming from the left is ludicrous, insane and will destroy their chances of winning. For all you alt left progressives intent on violence and anarchy you should form your own party if you think it’s that great. The center dems are starting to leave the party and soon you’ll get what you want, your own special brand of hateful, violent anarchists. Enjoy
I am not registered with a party. I wanted to register with an Independent, but I found that I did not like some of their candidates.

Ebdoug, I registered as an independent, because I don’t fit in with any party. I like some parts of several, but don’t like the whole platform of any. I can vote for any candidate based on how much of their philosophy marries up to mine.
I agree with you. What I asked was about registering with the Independent Party which I also disagree with. I’m a registered voter with no party.
I feel the need to share. I just had a fun phone call to the office of Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado. He’s complaining that people are being paid to call and complain about one of his stances so I called to see how to get that job. The lady was very nice, assured me she had proof and is going to be getting back to me with the proof and place where I can maybe find some work I would enjoy. A new career at my age. I can’t wait.
In a more civilized time, my Grandfather Henry A Wise was head of the Republican Party in Virginia. He ran for Senator in US congress against Harry Byrd. Needless to say Harry Byrd won. The Byrds were apple farmers so each harvest season, he sent my grandfather a bushel of apples.
Now if you wiki Henry A Wise, you find his grandfather who was governor of Virginia when John Brown invaded the armory at Harper’s Ferry, then still a part of Virginia.
If you go to the political graveyard you find many named Wise in the house of representatives-all relatives somehow.
The Governor’s son John (my Great) married a Byrd; hence hooking us into the Byrd family, but Harry Byrd was part of the native American Byrds.
John became the main character in a not so good movie that came out in 2014 called “The Field of lost shoes” The book it was based on that John wrote called “The End of an Era” is a wonderful book about his life and upbringing to the Civil War. At least at the start of the book he says that there are what are now called “Alternative Truths” in the book. Parts about his brother Richard, John took as his own facts, but he tells you that.
And Harry Byrd, Jr and my mother were born the same day. I was going to send him a letter but figured he might be too old to appreciate it. Shortly after he died. His son sent me a nice thank you for the letter.

Notycoon22, yeah I am in a quandary, I think there should be a clear separation of church And state when crafting policy (i.e. Marriage equality) but if I want to say under God in the pledge of allegiance I ought to be able to. If I want to fly a flag on “my” property, as a 24 year veteran of the Army, I don’t think anyone has the right to tell me no. If a women and her doctor feel a pregnancy should be aborted, ok, but if you just decide to abort in the 2nd or 3rd trimester you should be charged with murder along with the doctor. If I want to say I am in favor oo against this or that Nobody should tell me I can’t. Why do people want to limit my ability to own a gun I have been extensively trained to use, but allow criminals caught with illegal weapons to spend less time than in jail then it takes me to apply for a permit to have a legal gun?
The world to me seems turned upside down with no clear choices in leadership. It’s either way to the left or right, where’s the middle?
