Professor Allan Lichtman, who gained notoriety by predicting that Donald Trump would win the presidential election, is now predicting that Trump will be impeached. Often, political predictions are not worth much, but Lichtman did manage to correctly predict the last eight presidential elections.
Lichtman even says that Trump could even be impeached by a Republican Congress. “Trump threatens the institutions and traditions that have made America safe and free for 230 years, and I’ll make clear why a Republican Congress might impeach a president of its own party.”
Trump even has multiple potential offenses for which he could be impeached, including treason with Russia, abuse of power, or violations of the emoluments clause of the Constitution. And presidents can be impeached for things they did before they were elected, so add Trump’s violations of housing laws, his many charity problems, disregard of the Cuba embargo, and the infamous Trump University. Trump also has a bad habit of habitually lying even when giving sworn testimony, so he could easily provide even more reasons to impeach himself. It wouldn’t be hard for someone in Congress to set an “impeachment trap” for Trump. I mean, if Bill Clinton could be impeached for lying about sleeping around, Trump has already done far worse. And he is just getting started.
Lichtman concludes “Justice will be realized in today’s America not through revolution, but by the Constitution’s peaceful remedy of impeachment, but only if the people demand it.”
UPDATE: One more way this might happen. If Trump fires him, Steve Bannon might exact vengeance against Trump via “an epic, Kill Bill-style revenge saga that starts with Bannon leaking personal dirt on his enemies to the tabloids, using the megaphone of Breitbart News to exacerbate divisions inside the administration, and siccing an army of internet trolls on his adversaries to harass and defame them.” And it isn’t like Bannon hasn’t done stuff like this before.

Well, we can only hope, but timing is everything. Tornadoes and earthquakes pass too but consider all the carnage they leave behind.
He will be impeached by republicans before midterms, or by democrats after midterm.
I don’t see it happening any time soon. I hope I’m wrong, but when you get people like McCain who says one thing and votes another, and McConnell who is like a pig in a fresh mud puddle, giddy with the idea that they have the power to undo all the things they’ve been wanting to undo for decades, it’s going to be hard for them to concentrate long enough to impeach. Look at them. Most are afraid to hold town hall meetings. The polls show one thing and they act on the other regardless of the polls. I mean what else is there for Trump to do that will make them turn on him? As far as I know, he has not committed a murder. Other than that, he’s done it. And yet they make no move to impeach. A man who if his mouth is open is lying, a man who has been accused of pedophilia, rape, actually bragged about his sexual assaults, dealings with Russia, dealings with the mob, discrimination, nepotism, conning, and worst of all ignorance. The Repubs are so morally bankrupt that they will put up with him until they get what they want and then will impeach. By then there will be untold damage.

Sadly, I agree with Wildwood. Drumpf will stay “in power” until he is no longer useful to the Puplicans. Could be this week, could be 3 years – I could even see them tolerating him until the 2020 elections. By the, Pence will be set up to run on his own and, as dingy as this country’s voting patterns are, he’ll have a real chance of getting elected. My only caveat to this is if the investigators really do their job and nail him on the Russian connection. I don’t think even McCain could ignore that one.

I think the most interesting thing not mentioned is that he “just met Bannon last year.” In the real world, he has known and worked with Bannon for years. Sorry, but I’m a nurse and have worked in nursing homes with people who have Alzheimers much younger than he. I truly suspect he isn’t there.

Jonah, boys and their toys. They had that really bigly bomb just burning a hole in their pockets and a leader who told them to do what they wanted so they decided to turn that baby loose. They’ve had virtually unlimited funds for a long time and a lot of toys they have had no excuse to use. Now comes along a so-called leader who is too distracted and too weak to give them direction.
