Today I was having an interesting conversation with a friend of mine, who happens to be a fairly famous computer scientist. We were discussing innovation, which led to expressing our amazement at the success of Twitter. Who could have predicted that imposing a completely artificial constraint on the length of messages would not only lead to success, but maybe even ultimately to the downfall of American democracy?

Presumably you are referring to Trumps popularity on twitter? Though it looks like a large number of his followers are bots and quite a few of his supporters dont like him tweeting. I would say facebook is more detrimental that twitter. Sites like FB have led to lazy news gathering where users now resort to reading “news” while surfing pictures and other useless material. I’m not a fan of facebook at all. I don’t use it actively and think its a shame that a company that effectively promotes a message board is ~5x more valuable than a company like Gilead and ~2x more valuable than Novartis both of which literally save peoples lives.

Twitter was made for Trump. His thought prossesses and vocabulary are limited and easily fit in small places. Small mind, small thoughts, small platform.
