Will Trump Flee?

Politico has a very interesting opinion article by a retired general who believes that if Donald Trump loses the election, there is a very good chance he will flee the US to avoid humiliation and likely prosecution. Heck, as he often does, Trump himself has actually floated the idea.

Here’s a teaser from the article:

If Trump loses badly, it is conceivable he could plan a stealth departure sometime during the 11-week period before Inauguration Day, while he still has the protection of legal immunity as a sitting president. Leaving U.S. airspace before he resumes the status of private citizen at noon on January 20 would allow him to escape—or at least delay—dealing face-to-face with many creditors and lawsuits.

Either Trump will win (by cheating) or will hold country hostage to get his charges dropped. He will not flee.

Forget where I read this a while ago but it makes sense, that he would be prohibited from fleeing the country, as he has too much top secret intel he knows as a former President which he could, and likely would, spill to any number of foreign adversaries as leverage to provide asylum, Putin and Mohammed bin Bone Saw come foremost to mind.

A sitting president has no legal immunity per the US Constitution. Just a Republican-penned DoJ OLC Memo that has never been challenged in court.

I guess “Equal before the law” is just a nice slogan.

Com’on, its all noise. If Hillary was president the right wing would be saying exactly the same thing. Nobody has the cajones to prosecute the orange turd for anything, except maybe the tax stuff, and he’ll never get more than a fine on that and he will cry about being treated unfairly until the day he dies.

I heard another odd scenario. When Trump loses, he resigns his position leaving Pence president, who then pardons him for everything.

At least it might be peaceful.

Trump can’t afford to flee. He owes hundreds of millions of dollars to the kind of thugs that you don’t want to owe a cent to. He can hide from the prosecutors; they’re lawful; but where can he hide from his predatory creditors? They’re lawless. If he runs, then they will find him, and they will _collect_.

His best move is to turn himself in. SDNY will guard him in a secure location. There he can safely welch on the criminal cronies of ‘Polonium’ Putin.

Trump cannot be pardoned anymore. Presidential pardon only covers federal charges. State charges still remain.
