Axis of Stupidity

Newt Gingrich doesn’t think the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are bad enough. On Thursday, Gingrich twice said that the US should attack North Korea and Iran. But the best part is his reasoning — we need to finish what Dubya started when he created the phrase “Axis of Evil”:

I believe he was right but in fact could not operationalize what he said. That is, there was an Axis of Evil, Iran, Iraq, North Korea. Well we’re one out of three. And people ought to think about that. If Bush was right in January of 2002 — and by the way virtually the entire Congress gave him a standing ovation when he said it — then why is it that the other two parts of the Axis of Evil are still visibly, cheerfully making nuclear weapons? And it’s because we’ve stood at brink, looked over and thought, “Too big a problem.” If Franklin Roosevelt had done that in ‘41, either the Japanese or the Germans would have won.

When will people get tired of this “it’s us vs. them” attitude that has gotten us into so much trouble?

I think that the “Axis of Evil” comment caused those three nations to greatly accelerate their quest for nuclear capabilities. After all, if the “Great Satan” called me evil, I would want to make any attack they made as painful as possible.

I personally think it’s hilarious when Ahmadinajhad basically says nah, nah, nah na nah nah, makes a face and says the US isn’t gonna do anything so why don’t we just shut up. He could care less, same thing with Kim. He’ll blow up a allies ship and go “what, you got a problem?” Shut up too. And then both of them go on about what ever business they want. Russia and China continue to trade with both, Venezuela wants to take Iraq’s place and Chavez is like his Iranian and Korean counterpart, whatever USA, just shut up and go away. Next, Cuba will tell us to get out of Gitmo, Mexico wil retake the southwest “they already have most of it”(that will make the californians happy no doubt). Do we want to carve out a piece for Spain, France and the UK just for old times sake? Let us not forget the original inhabitants of our land, the true native Americans.

Thank you for printing that. I was dismayed when I heard that he had said this, only days after you had written that you were sort of glad to see that he was running for prez since all the others so far were fairly nuts (or something to that effect). The man has no moral compass, and only wants one thing, and that is power. I do not believe that he has ANY interest whatsoever in the future well-being of this country and it’s people.

None of this is new. People have been rattling swords & taking over each other’s lands since the dawn of man. Why should this instance be any different?

“WE” consider ourselves to be the good ones (“God” is on OUR side, after all) and “THEY” are the bad guys, axis of evil, red devil, etc.
Occasionally (ex: Hitler & the Nazi agenda) the nomenclature may be more accurate than not, but ‘occasionally’ is the operative word here.

Whether I am a “WE” or a “THEY” depends on a variety of things, most notably my religious affiliation, race, &/or nationality.
In truth, mankind has always been at odds with mankind, since before we stood upright (& we can’t even agree on that).
Just read The Sneeches by Theodore Geisel. It’s all right there.

If only Newt would ask himself “What, besides name calling (AofE) & righteous indignation, can I, in my position of world wide prominence, do to diffuse this situation & heal the wounds of the ages?”

The question is this: If/when it ever does end, will it end happily or not?
    Hmmmm, let me guess…

Oh & on a humorous note: He doesn’t look like a newt. I guess he got better.

“Hitler & the Nazi agenda’ Hitler was white Catholic. He, unfortunately for his addenda did not have blond hair, but he over looked that. This was totally race and Religion.

If you happen to be Christian, the words are “turn the other cheek.” Bush claims he is “born again Christian” invades a sovereign nation and was able to knock off a lot more Iraqis than Suddam did while assume all the Christian were forced out of Iraq through fear.

Amazing what happens if we have a well financed standing army, give help where needed and keep ourselves out of other’s business.

Rove had no moral compass so would love someone like Hypocritical Newt running on his family values one wife after another.

Capierso, in my own defense I did say that I disagreed with almost anything he says.

If you are against any politician who is only interested in power, there aren’t many left!
