In a Functional Country, We Would Be on the Road to Impeachment

This is the title of an opinion piece in the NY Times. It is a good, thoughtful rant, and I don’t disagree with much in it.

Note that it doesn’t say that we should impeach Donald Trump, just that if our country weren’t so screwed up and dysfunctional, we would be impeaching him.

Our country has lost its way. I’m not sure what we can do to bring it back. To Make American Sane Again.

Read the fine print. Muller is saying if it were another person, as he says “a traditional prosecutorial judgment”, his team would have brought charges.

I see a way around impeachment. Trump testified to Mueller with answers his lawyers gave him. He often says “I don’t remember” Now two years into his presidency, he doesn’t remember. Either one of two things: 1) he lied on the answers about not remembering which since he was lying under oath is good cause for impeachment. or 2) he really doesn’t remember and isn’t lying in which case he can be removed under article 25. For him it is a catch 22.

EBDOUG, article 25 would never happen. He could be roaming the halls with drool hanging from his lips and muttering strange incantations and the Republicans and those within his sphere in the White House, would protect him. Now next time we vote for senate, if we get enough Dems in, that might be feasible. But that’s a long time away and a big if.

We are going to need a massive turnout in the next election to overcome the zeal of the right, the gerrymandering, and the tampered with voting machines. They have stolen this country and we need to take it back.
