This is so appropriate for me based on an unfortunate conversation with a rightwingnut over the past couple of days. “I argue using facts!” Well sort of. You say things that are facts, but you use them to support things that they don’t support, or twist them to make you feel like what you believe is based in reality instead of fantasy.
And then, after pointing out the problem with those facts (“75% of Americans are against the mosque in NY, therefore not building it must be right”), I get told that I’m the one “drinking the koolaid” and making emotional arguments.
I hate having conversations with those people because it makes me feel like that is the mentality of a lot of people, and that makes me sad. Coming here sometimes is a breath of fresh air…not for liberal viewpoints or anti-republican stories, but just for the fact that I get to see some people still using their brains. Maybe there is hope.
I couldn’t agree more (see my recent comment under “And THIS is how Carter repays us?” below.
