Election Enthusiasm?

The current field of Republican candidates is the best thing Obama has going for his reelection efforts.

A real Republican leader with a moderate philosophy could easily win in 2012, but there don’t seem to be any – and if there were, they would never make it through the primaries. And while all eyes are focused on the president’s race the popular view of Congress has slid further – to the point that House members have to say, “Get out of the gutter, you’re blocking my snorkel!”

And, while I am in involved with No Labels (which is not a party) I don’t see any really viable third party emerging either.

Maybe we’re going about this all wrong. Maybe we should first pick the leader we want, then vote in the representatives that will support him or her. Is there ANY human being that would make an ideal President, and if so let’s find them and then form a party around them. It almost worked for Ross Perot, except that even those that supported him (me included) didn’t really want HIM to be President. I am beginning to think we were on to something with Reagan – maybe we need to hire an actor to PLAY the President we want *grins* If so, maybe Morgan Freeman is available.

All kidding aside and ignoring party affiliations, who would you want as President? I don’t know that there is anyone that fits the bill for me, but I would sure like one that would make Jon Stewart a key advisor *grins again*

Not sure what you really mean with the Reagan reference but if our government eventually continues downhill and fails, I’d place the beginning of the end with Reagan. That being said, my first choice would be Hunter Thompson as President but since he’s dead I’ll have to go with Iron Knee.

I get the Reagan reference. Actor plays president. I think Jason and you are on the same side there MH.

LOL. I’d be a terrible president. I might make a fair dictator — I could be ok at policy — but I’m horrible at politics.

I’m listening to Noam Chomsky on KGNU and he just described Democrats today as being the equivalent of the moderate Republicans of 30 years ago. If that’s the case, there are moderate Republicans, you just need to call them Democrats.

Now Chomsky just called Nixon the last liberal President and went on to justify his statement. The audience let out a bit of a gasp when he said it, then thought he was kidding, then realized he was stating what to him was a truth. Very interesting talk. I’m guessing that KGNU.org will have a recording of it available at some time.
